Texas Teacher Accused of Improper Relations with Student

(Odessa, Texas) A 28-year-old teacher and coach formerly at Permian High School, Kathryn Maples, was arrested yesterday for engaging in an improper relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

Maples faces a charge of felony improper relations between teacher and student.

The 28-year-old history teacher also coached swimming and diving. An Ector County grand jury indicted her Monday on three counts of an improper relationship between an educator and student.

She resigned April 8 from the Ector County school district amid an investigation into a relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Maples was booked into custody at the Ector County Jail and released on bond set at $60,000.
