Alabama Teacher Gets Prison in Sex Case - Update

(Chilton County, Alabama) Former Thorsby High School teacher Jennifer Collins McNeill was sentenced yesterday to five years in prison for rape and sodomy of a male teen.

McNeill cried in the courtroom when she addressed the court and begged for mercy. She apologized for lying about Facebook posts that delayed her sentencing for a few weeks.

The posts indicated that McNeill was innocent, and her attorney originally said the victim in the case and his mother hacked McNeill's Facebook account to make the posts. The family of the victim denied those claims.

McNeill's attorney also apologized to the judge in court on Thursday, saying her client misrepresented herself about the Facebook posts. Those posts have been withdrawn from the case.

The mother of the victim in the case also addressed the court before McNeill's sentencing. She said she and McNeill had been friends for 10 years and attended the same church, where McNeill was also a Sunday School teacher.

The victim's mom said she is taking her son to counseling to deal with the abuse.

The judge said McNeill will serve the full five years in prison.

(Chilton County, Alabama) In accordance with a plea deal, former Thorsby High School teacher Jennifer Collins McNeill has pleaded guilty to three counts of second degree rape and and one count of sodomy. Sentencing is scheduled for July 24.

Alabama Teacher Indicted on Rape and Sodomy Charges - Update

(Chilton County, Alabama) Former teacher and cheerleading sponsor Jennifer Collins McNeill has been indicted for the rape and sodomy of a minor.

McNeill is accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a teenage student under the age of 18. The Chilton County District Attorney says the accuser was not a student at Thorsby, which is a combine K-12th grade school.

McNeill was placed on administrative leave after her arrest. Chilton County Superintendent Dave Hayden says that McNeill has resigned from the school system.

Arraignment is scheduled for March 10.

Alabama Teacher Faces Rape and Sodomy Charges

(Birmingham, Alabama) A 39-year-old 6th-grade teacher at Thorsby High School, Jennifer Collins McNeill, has been arrested for rape and sodomy of a juvenile.

McNeill faces six counts of statutory rape and two counts of second-degree sodomy. According to Sheriff Kevin Davis:

“The allegations that were made were investigated and a warrant was obtained,” Davis said.

Davis said due to the victim being a juvenile, he could not release any information and it is unclear if the victim was a Thorsby student.

Chilton County Superintendent Dave Hayden said McNeill was a cheerleader sponsor at Thorsby and was primarily a sixth grade teacher.

McNeill was booked into custody at the Chilton County Jail with bond set at $160,000.
