Arkansas Teacher Convicted of Sex with Female Student - Update

(Monticello, Arkansas)
A 57-year-old school teacher that resigned after being arrested, accepted a plea bargain, Wednesday morning, in Drew County Circuit Court.

Helen Banks, a former Drew Central High School teacher, agreed to a term of 8 years probation and will be required to register as a sex offender.

(Drew County, Arkansas) A 57-year-old teacher at Drew Central High School, Helen Banks, has been accused of sexual assault of a female student.

Banks faces a charge of felony sexual assault in the 2nd degree.
Banks was interviewed by authorities stemming from an investigation which alleged that Banks was having inappropriate contact and communication with a 16-year-old female student.

Banks admitted to the allegations during the interview, she was booked into the Drew County Detention Facility and has since bonded out on a $25,000 commercial bond.
Official charges will be determined by the prosecutor.
