A Winfield High School teacher accused of unlawful sexual relations with a student made a first court appearance Tuesday afternoon in Cowley County District Court.

Ashley Marie Eck, 24, of Augusta, is charged with unlawful sexual relations between a teacher or school employee and a student, according to District Judge Nicholas St. Peter.



It is a severity level-5 personal felony, subject to a penalty of no less than 31 or more than 136 months in prison, a fine of up to $300,000 and post-release supervision.

Eck was booked into custody at the Cowley County Jail.
