Florida Teacher Accused of Sex with Minor

(Pensacola, Florida) A 42-year-old teacher formerly with the Escambia County Department of Alternative Education, Shannon Marie Maddox, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy.

Maddox faces a charge of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.

Maddox admitted to the act Aug. 29 while speaking to Sheriff’s investigators about an unrelated incident. On Sept. 11, the alleged victim also admitted to investigators that he had intercourse with Maddox at her home.

At the time, Maddox was employed at the Drug and Alcohol Adolescent Residential Treatment Center in Pensacola, a program for youth between the ages of 12-17 who are at risk to drug and alcohol abuse.

Maddox was booked into custody at the Escambia County Jail and subsequently released on bond.
