Oklahoma Teacher Booked for DUI

(Broken Arrow, Oklahoma) A 41-year-old second-grade teacher at Cooper Elementary School, Kathy L. Boen, has been accused of driving drunk with a young, unrestrained child in the back seat.

Boen faces counts of DUI, felony child endangerment and not using child restraints.
Broken Arrow Police received a tip from a driver who saw Boen driving erratically and followed her red Ford Thunderbird, according to an arrest report. Boen was reportedly driving into oncoming traffic and off the edge of the road.

A BAPD officer pulled the 41-year-old woman over in the 2200 block of West Quantico after seeing her make a U-turn in front of traffic.

"I also observed a small female child, unrestrained in the rear seat of the vehicle and obviously well under the age requirement of child safety restraints to be used," Officer R. Baird said in his report.

Boen had difficulty finding her driver's license, smelled strongly of alcohol and "could not finish a simple sentence," Baird said.
Boen was booked into custody at the Broken Arrow City Jail where she registered 0.30 on the breathalyzer.
