Wisconsin Educator Accused of Sex with Student
(Sun Prairie, Wisconsin) A 25-year-old special education assistant at Sun Prairie High School, Janet S. Kula, has been accused of engaging in a sexual relationship with a student.
Kula faces a charge of sexual assault of a child by a school staff person.
Kula, 25, started a relationship with the 17-year-old high school student in November 2013, Sun Prairie Police Lt. Brian Teasdale said. The relationship “became inappropriate” in December, police said.Details on booking are unavailable.
School officials heard “a rumor of potential misconduct” on Tuesday, according to district spokeswoman Sarah Heck, and told Sun Prairie police about the rumor on Wednesday.
Kula had worked at Sun Prairie High School as a special education assistant since last September, Heck said.
The district placed Kula on leave Wednesday and fired her Friday, Heck said.
