Idaho Woman Accused of Smuggling Contraband into Prison

(Ada County, Idaho) A 31-year-old local woman, Danielle A. Pennington, has been accused of smuggling contraband into an Idaho prison.

According to the Ada County Sheriff's Office, Pennington mailed iPods and cell phones into the Idaho Correctional Center.
Investigators suspect Pennington shipped a box containing DVDs, video games and a game console — intended donation to the general population — to inmate Devon B. Elmore, 25, of Boise, Sheriff’s Office Community Information Officer Patrick Orr said.

Underneath a false bottom in the box, Orr said, Idaho Correctional Center guards found iPods and a cellphone, contraband in a prison environment.

Elmore faces charges similar to Pennington’s.

An Idaho Department of Correction document provided by IDOC Public Information Officer Jeff Ray states that prison authorities take unauthorized communication devices inside prison walls seriously.
Pennington was booked into custody at the Ada County Sheriff's Office.
