Tennessee Mom Gets Prison for Children's Deaths

(Murfreesboro, Tennessee) Two children were found dead, face down on the floorboard of mom's car. All the while, mom was sleeping after staying up late night playing video games.
The woman whose children died in a hot car in August 2012 in Smyrna entered a guilty plea to lesser charges Wednesday in a Rutherford County court.

Samantha Harper pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted aggravated child neglect in the accidental deaths of 2-year-old Savannah Marise and 3-year-old Daniel Marise.

She was charged initially with two counts of aggravated child neglect and two counts of felony child murder. The children were found dead inside a car after Harper awoke from a three-hour nap on Aug. 2, 2012, at her home in Smyrna.
Harper was sentenced to 16 years in prison.
