Carolina Woman Allegedly Practiced Dentistry Illegally

A 61-year-old woman was arrested and charged with practicing dentistry in her southwest Charlotte apartment without a license, possibly for years, according to the N.C. Department of Public Safety.

Susana Larreta Peralta was arrested late Thursday after a two-week investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation.

During a search of Peralta’s home, police said they found and seized numerous dental tools and instruments. Police also seized seven vials of the non-controlled prescription drug Xylocaine, which is a dental anesthetic.

Authorities also charged Peralta with obtaining a prescription drug without a prescription and dispensing a prescription drug without a permit.

Peralta was booked into the Mecklenburg County Jail and released on $5,000 bail.
