New York Teacher Accused of Sex with Student, 14,

(New York City) A 29-year-old educator at the Urban Assembly Bronx Academy of Letters, Maria Contreras, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 14-year-old.

Contreras faces counts of rape and performing sex acts on a minor.

Contreras denied the charges, shaking her head 'no' when asked if she and the teen had sex as she was escorted to court.

Her arraignment was pending.

Contreras was arrested Saturday evening.
