More Expensive Coffee

A few months ago, I heard a regular at the local coffee shop say, "Pretty soon, you'll need a sawbuck to get coffee at Starbucks." For some reason, it stuck in my mind. Maybe it was the rhyme or maybe the apparent truth of the statement. According to this report, Starbucks announced its going to jack up prices to cover the increased cost of milk, rent, and insurance. Starbucks hasn't said how much it will increase prices, but insiders are expecting about a 5% adder to the average $2 to $2.50 coffee.

My take is that every Democrat that screams the current economy is the worst economy since the Great Depression should be asked how that comparison can be made when a company can grow and prosper by selling cups of coffee at $2.50 each. If trendiness can be a household budget expense, the economy can't be as bad as it's portrayed.
