(General Santos, Philippines) Although nobody has yet claimed responsibility, a Muslim terrorist group called Abu Sayyaf is suspected in the bombing of the meat section of the General Santos City Public Market which killed at least 11 people. About 30 wounded, some critical, were rushed to two area hospitals. According to Police Captain Maximo Sebastian,
"The market was packed with people because there were Christmas flea market stalls there, and the explosion was powerful."About 600 miles from Manila, General Santos is a busy port city on the southern tip of the island of Mindanao.
