(Las Vegas, Nevada) A 25-year-old teacher at Cheyenne High School, Heidi Tolman, has been suspended with pay while the school district investigates an allegation that she engaged in sex with an 18-year-old male student. Tolman's lawyer, Vincent Consul, stated that no crime is involved since the student was not a minor. According to the school district, however, a teacher may be fired for having sex with a student despite the student's age.
I see Tolman's situation as a case of ethics rather than legalities.
