Teacher Gets Probation for Indecency with Boy

(Concord, North Carolina) In May 2006, a 44-year-old history teacher at the private Cannon School, Janet Botton Klatt, was arrested by Concord Police for engaging in indecent liberties with a 16-year-old male student. The charged stemmed from an intimate episode between Klatt and the boy in a restaurant parking lot sometime between April 28 and May 5, 2006.

This week, Klatt pleaded guilty in Cabarrus County Court to indecent liberties with a student. She was sentenced to six to eight months probation and ordered to pay a $1,000 fine. It's not known whether she will be required to register as a sex offender.

Notably, Klatt's troubles are not over. She faces similar charges in Wake County where it's alleged she had sex with a 16-year-old male student in a hotel while on an overnight field trip.
