Teacher Booked for Carnal Knowledge of Boy

(Hornbeck, Louisiana) A 39-year-old teacher at Hornbeck Junior High School, Maurna Thornton, was arrested Monday for alleged inappropriate behavior with a 14-year-old male student. Thornton faces one count of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

The victim's parent alerted the school and the Vernon Parish Sheriff's Office last week.

Thornton was booked into the Vernon Parish Jail and released on $25,000 bond.
