Trial of Silvio Berlusconi

(Rome, Italy) Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi is scheduled to go on trial on April 6 for allegedly paying for sex with a Moroccan-born underage prostitute, 18-year-old Karima El Mahroug.

In a report by prosecutors, who ended their investigation yesterday, it is alleged that Mr Berlusconi's parties began with dinner and ended with the Italian prime minister selecting a sex partner, or partners.

Mr Berlusconi, 74, is accused of having sex with Miss El Mahroug, a Moroccan belly-dancer known as Ruby the Heart Stealer, when she was aged 17.[...]

The teenager denies she ever had sexual relations with Mr Berlusconi but said he gave her 7,000 euros as a gift because he felt sorry for her.

Frankly, I'd suggest that Miss Ruby Heart Stealer would say and do just about anything for 7,000 euros.

In any event, the prosecution alleges that Berlusconi participated in 13 "sexual acts" with Ruby the Heart Stealer. It's not clear whether that means 13 sexual acts total or 13 different sexual acts. I'm flummoxed if it's 13 different sexual acts. Is there a brochure?

In his defense, Berlusconi recently said that he's too old to be guilty of all the sex he's accused of.

Oregon Woman Gets Jail for Rape of Boy

(Astoria, Oregon) A 35-year-old local woman, Julie Diane Green, pleaded no contest last Friday to rape and endangering the welfare of a minor stemming from her involvement with a 14-year-old boy.

Green was sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years of probation for each conviction.

Prosecutors said Green held a party for her children and their friends last August, allowed several minors to drink alcohol and then had sex with one of the visiting 14-year-olds.

Green was also order to register as a sex offender.

The reference to imperial Japan's sneak attack on US forces in Hawaii, which killed about 2500 people, set off a storm of criticism over the internet.

Sulkin apologised and deleted the message, explaining that he wrote it when he believed the death toll was lower.

Rapper 50 Cent has sparked outrage after mocking the Japanese earthquake victims. As the death toll continues to climb from the devastating 9.0 earthquake the singer took to his Twitter account to comment on the catastrophe. 'Look this is very serious people I had to evacuate all my hoes from LA, Hawaii and Japan. I had to do it. Lol,' he Tweeted.

He added shortly afterwards, 'Nah this is nuts but what can anyone do about it. Let’s pray for anyone who has lost someone.'

The rapper later admitted that he Tweets for shock value, saying: 'Some of my tweets are ignorant I do it for shock value. Hate it or love it. I’m cool either way 50cent.”

He sent out his remarks on the social networking site as millions on the west coast of America were put on a tsunami alert following the disaster in Japan. 'Wave will hit 8am them crazy white boys gonna try to go surfing.' he tweeted.

American comedian Gilbert Gottfried also made vile jokes about the devastating disaster.

'I just split up with my girlfriend, but like the Japanese say, "They'll be another one floating by any minute now," Gottfried, 56, tweeted on Saturday.

He added: 'What does every Japanese person have in their apartment? Flood lights.'

Gottfried has now been fired from insurance company Aflac as the voice of the duck in the ad campaigns. 'Gilbert’s recent comments about the crisis in Japan were lacking in humor and certainly do not represent the thoughts and feelings of anyone at Aflac,' a spokesman for the firm told TMZ.

NC Woman Accused of Sex with Boy

(Fayetteville, North Carolina) A 27-year-old local woman, Crystal Gail Tompkins, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy repeatedly between August and September 2010.

Tompkins faces six counts each of statutory rape, statutory sex offenses and crimes against nature. She is also charged with obstruction for allegedly trying to bribe a witness.

The boy told investigators that Tompkins had given him marijuana and bought him a cell phone, according to the paperwork.

Tompkins was booked into custody with bond set at $955,000.

Gorgeous Pamela Turner, aka Rogers, Denied Parole - Updated

(Nashville, Tennessee) In February 2008, former high school gym teacher Pamela Turner (aka Pamela Rogers) filed a formal parole request to be released after less than two years of her eight-year sentence.

The Tennessee Board of Probation and Parole and an appellate court decided that she should wait six years before parole would be considered. Consequently, an appeal to the Tennessee Supreme Court was sought.

Yesterday, the Tennessee Supreme Court refused to hear the Turner/Rogers appeal.

Therefore, now 33-year-old Pamela Turner aka Rogers will continue to serve her sentence until 2014 in Nashville at the Tennessee Prison for Women. With credit for good behavior, she may be eligible for release in 2013.

Gorgeous Pamela Rogers Seeks Parole

(Nashville, Tennessee) The saga of gorgeous Pamela Rogers continues.

Convicted and sentenced to prison for molesting a 13-year-old boy, Rogers has some cell time behind her and now she wants out after completing less than one-fourth of her term.

Apparently, prison doesn't agree with gorgeous Pamela Rogers.

As a reminder:

- In August 2005, 28-year-old Pamela Rogers was sentenced to a lenient nine months in jail for engaging in sex with a 13-year-old student.

- In February 2006, Rogers was released on probation after six months in jail.

- In April 2006, Rogers was arrested for violating her probation by contacting her victim. She was released on bail.

- Later in April 2006, Rogers was arrested again for violating her probation by sending sexually explicit videos to her victim by cameraphone. Bail was denied.

- In July 2006, Rogers was sent to prison to serve a term of seven years.

Jump forward in time to the present. Rogers, now 30, made a formal parole request today in a hearing at the Nashville Women's Prison. A simple calculation indicates that Rogers has about five and one-half years remaining on her sentence. No justification was disclosed to support an early release.

A final decision by the parole board is expected in the "coming weeks."

Former MADD Prez Busted for DUI

(Marion County, Florida) A 48-year-old local woman, Debra Oberlin, has been arrested for drunk driving which is embarrassingly inconsistent with the fact that she is the former president of the Gainesville chapter of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD).

I'd suggest that Ms. Oberlin is quite humiliated right now.

Oberlin's arrest occurred about 1AM on February 18.

According to the arrest report she was given two breathalyzer tests and measured .234 and .239.

The breathalyzer results indicate that Oberlin was decidedly pickled.

According to email data research during which hundreds of thousands of email users were surveyed, correlations were found between defined types of people and specific email service providers.

For example, it found AOL and Yahoo! users are most likely to be "overweight women" who "haven't travelled outside their own country".

Hotmail is relegated to pessimists in the suburbs, while Gmail is the hipster of the bunch with users who are most likely to be "thin young men" aged from 18 to 34, with a college education.

The general breakdown of the analysis of users and their providers is as follows.

Yahoo! - chubby, young females,

AOL - chubby, older women,

Gmail - slim, young men, and

Hotmail - average, young females.

The report and conclusions are decidedly arguable. In fact, even the researchers don't guarantee the accuracy of their assertions.

Big discovery: Electric cars are a dumb idea

Nissan's electric car, the Leaf, has reportedly been unexpectedly running out of charge

The electric cars revolution has hit its first bump in the road. According to reports from the United States several owners of Nissan's electric hatchback, the Leaf, have reported the car unexpectedly running out of charge and stopping.

Range-anxiety - the fear of an electric car running out of charge - is one of the biggest challenges facing the car industry as it attempts to convert motorists from fossil fuel to electricity.

The owners are reporting the remaining range indicated on the car's dashboard is rapidly dropping before putting the car into a "limp home mode" that slows the car to a crawl to conserve the remaining charge in the battery. One owner reported the car went from showing 27km of range to coming to a halt in only eight kilometres of driving.

"Part of me is amused that I may go down in history as the first dumbass to drive the car into submission," the owner wrote. "But I am slightly shaky and upset as I thought there should have been no problem getting home."

Another reported the a similar situation with the car again dropping into the "limp home mode" before grinding to a halt.

A spokeswoman for Nissan USA said the company was investigating the reports but claimed they were "isolated" incidents.

The Leaf has been making headlines in the United States as one of the first all-electric cars on sale. It is also one of three finalists in the 2011 World Car of the Year awards along with the Audi A8 and BMW 5-Series.

On his popular nationally syndicated talk-radio show yesterday, Michael Savage spotlighted the behavior of Democrats at the controversial House hearing on radicalization in the Muslim community in America. "Did you see how the Democrats behaved? How disgusting their behavior was?" Savage asked, pointing to Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, as one of many examples.

After the hearing Thursday, Green bullied a reporter who pointed out that of 126 terror indictments by the Justice Department, all were of Muslims. But Green insisted the Ku Klux Klan should have been investigated along with Muslim radicalization.

"Mr. Green, Mr. Green," Savage interjected as he played the clip. "The KKK is a despicable organization. They've been investigated, they've been penetrated. Half of them are FBI agents." Instead of embracing an investigation of Islam in America, Savage wondered, "why is Al Green suddenly talking about the KKK?"

How many KKK members have gone on shooting sprees at U.S. army bases? But the argument is a non-argument anyway. If someone wants to investigate the KKK, let them. It could be interesting to find out whether they are still all Democrats! But to claim that there should be another enquiry speaks not at all to whether the first enquiry is justified!

And the other classic of illogic is the ad hominem attack: Abusing the arguer rather than addressing his argument. And you can find heaps of attacks on Peter King of that sort here.

And there have of course been innumerable comparisons of Peter King with Joe McCarthy. Again, however, that is a barb without a sting -- if only because McCarthy was eventually proved right after the fall of the Soviet Union. To accuse King of McCarthyism is to accuse King of accuracy!

And the most amusing thing of all about McCarthy is that he is regularly blamed for the deeds of the Democrat-led HUAC. Yet McCarthy was a Senator and HUAC stands for "HOUSE Un-American Activities Committee"! And the HUAC enquiries lasted far longer (37 years!) than McCarthy's enquiries did. How odd that we never hear Democrats blaming HUAC for anything! They only criticize HUAC when they think they can attribute it to McCarthy!

Oldies Star Wayne Fontana Arrested Going on Stage

(Manchester, England) Minutes before he was to go on stage for an oldies concert, Wayne Fontana, the 65-year-old former front man for the 60s group The Mindbenders, was arrested for an unpaid speeding ticket.

Handcuffed, Fontana was shoved into a police van at the Palace Theatre stage door.

Three years ago, Fontana was jailed for 11 months after setting fire to a bailiff's car in a row over an unpaid congestion charge bill.

Connecticut Teacher Accused of Public Indecency

(New Britain, Connecticut) A 31-year-old teacher at Roosevelt Middle School, Daniel Mer, has been accused of exposing himself to a woman in public while performing a sex act on himself.

Mer was apparently tossing his salad so the woman could view it and, as a result, faces charges of public indecency and breach of peace.

Police said the woman was walking on Lake Street, near the Lake Street School, when Mer passed her in a car and then pulled onto Rosewood Drive, where he stopped.

He parked in such a way that the woman was forced to walk around his car and as she did so he opened the driver's door and stuck his left leg out of the car, according to police.

As the woman passed, she saw he was naked from the waist down and performing a sexual act on himself as he looked at her, police said.

Mer then drove up Rosewood Drive, which is a dead end, and the woman was able to get the license plate number and a description of the vehicle, according to police.

I suspect the school district may want to reconsider employing Mr. Mer as a teacher. A court appearance is scheduled for March 22.

Female Bodybuilder Pinched for Prostitution

(Bonita Springs, Florida) A 42-year-old professional bodybuilder from Canada, Rhonda Lee Quaresma, has been accused of offering to perform sex acts for money on an undercover police officer.

Quaresma, who goes by the professional name of Miss Sparkle, was arrested on a charge of prostitution.

According to the arrest report, an undercover deputy made contact with “Miss Sparkle” and was told to meet her at a Bonita Springs hotel. A price of $280 for an hour was agreed upon.

The deputy was greeted by Quaresma, who was wearing pink lingerie. The deputy was told to leave his “donation” on the table. After he placed the money on the table, Quaresma grabbed the deputy’s crotch.

He asked if she had condoms and she pointed out condoms and lubricants on the nightstand. After some discussion about specific sex acts, the deputy gave the pre-arranged signal and uniformed officers came in to arrest “Miss Sparkle.”

Quaresma has a court appearance scheduled for March 29.

The name of the 20-something deceased black male is being investigated. He was found in his underwear. Heh.

Dumber Recruits Forced on Police Department

(Dayton, Ohio) The Obama administration, through the Department of Justice (DOJ), is forcing the Dayton Police Department to lower its testing requirements for new recruits.

The DOJ asserts that insufficient numbers of African-Americans are passing the current exam.

The hiring process was postponed for months because the D.O.J. rejected the original scores provided by the Dayton Civil Service Board, which administers the test.

Under the previous requirements, candidates had to get a 66% on part one of the exam and a 72% on part two.

The D.O.J. approved new scoring policy only requires potential police officers to get a 58% and a 63%. That's the equivalent of an ‘F’ and a ‘D’.

Note that the Dayton Police Department is not the first law enforcement organization the DOJ has forced to dumb down.

Plans continue apace to sell Turkey our next generation F-35 Joint Strike fighter. While Turkey is part of a consortium and will help build the fuselage, its participation is a diplomatic nicety rather than a necessity. Even so, the fuselage does not contain the top-secret electronics and other technology that the increasingly antagonistic Turks might share with their new partners in Iran and China.

After all, Turkey’s new intelligence head is known to be an Islamic Republic groupie, and Turkey earlier hosted aerial war games with the Chinese air force without first informing the Pentagon or NATO.

Against this backdrop, it is good news that the Turks are now complaining that the United States is reluctant to give them flight codes for the new fighters. Let’s hope that President Obama will not concede when Turkey’s prime minister, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, calls to complain.

Given the propensity and ability of both the Iranians and Chinese to reverse-engineer, it would be far better if the United States declined to sell any F-35s to Turkey. Alas, Senators Carl Levin and John McCain are asleep at the switch: the Senate Armed Services Committee has not even required that the Pentagon report to Congress on the vulnerability of F-35 technology leakage should the United States sell any planes to Turkey.

The Brazilian model says a dangerous obsession with having the biggest breasts in the world led to her nearly losing her life and has warned woman thinking about changing the way they look through surgery.

Sheyla, 31, is recovering after taking an overdose but, in her first interview since emerging from a coma, she reveals how terrible infections on her surgically-enhanced body led to a SECOND suicide attempt within the space of two months.

For after boosting her implants to MMM last June Sheyla developed a deadly infection which later forced doctors to remove her mammoth breasts, an operation which left her feeling so 'ugly' without her them she simply wanted to die.

It appears that a serious program of psychological therapy is warranted for Hershey.

American Professor Kidnapped in Mexico

(Ciudad Juarez, Mexico) An associate professor of anthropology at Northern Arizona University, Veronica Perez Rodriguez, 35, has been kidnapped.

A source at the Chihuahua state prosecutor's office said she was visiting her mother in Ciudad Juarez Friday afternoon "and the moment she left her family's house she was intercepted by armed men and deprived of her liberty."

Woman Accused of Stealing Electricity

(Alamance County, North Carolina) A 27-year-old local woman, Stacy Jean Kidd, has been accused of stealing more than $3,900 of electricity by tapping a utility service pole.

Kidd faces a charge of obtaining property by false pretense.

Deputies said they received a complaint from Randolph Electric Membership Cooperative that a technician had spotted a meter device from another company illegally installed on the pole.

An acquaintance who lives with Kidd, Robert Franklin Neese, 42, is sought by police as a suspect on similar charges.

Interestingly, since the technician saw "a meter device from another company illegally installed," could it be possible that the other company was being paid for the electricity?

Frankly, I have questions since I don't think the average member of the public has the nerve nor the knowledge to climb up a power pole and tap into an energized power cable without being electrocuted.

Bus Driver Fired for Flying Confederate Flag on his own personal vehicle

We read:

"It has the words “redneck” emblazoned across it. And its owner, school bus driver Ken Webber, displays it proudly on his personal pick-up truck. It‘s a symbol of states’ rights, he says. What is “it,” you ask? The confederate flag, of course:

But that’s not how his employers, the Phoenix-Talent school district, saw it: “The Phoenix-Talent school district said the flag violates their harassment policy, even though it’s displayed on his personal vehicle,” according to a news report.

Webber says he was fired for not removing the flag from his vehicle.

Webber plans to take the school district to court for violating his first amendment rights.

The Rutherford Institute of Charlottesville, Va., sent a letter Wednesday to First Student Bus Transportation Services demanding that Ken Webber of Medford, Ore., be reinstated. The institute says flying the flag is covered by his First Amendment right to free speech.

Georgia Teacher Accused of Assault

(Sylvester, Georgia) A 40-year-old teacher at Worth County Middle School, Karen Elizabeth Newsome, has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old boy and threatening him with vulgarities.

Newsome has been charged with simple battery and disrupting a public school stemming from the incident which was witnessed by the school principal.

Reportedly, Newsome grabbed the boy and profanely threatened to harm him in response to an alleged assault on her son by the boy. The alleged victim's mommy heard about the altercation and decided to press charges against Newsome.

Newsome was booked into custody and released on $3,000 bond.

Virginia Teacher's Aide Faces Drug Charges




(Chesapeake, Virginia) A 35-year-old teacher's assistant, mother-of-two and wife of a police officer, Holly A. Schaffer, has been accused of selling five different kinds of prescription drugs out of her home.

On Sunday, Schaffer was charged with seven counts of possession with intent to distribute Roxicodone, methadone, Adderall, Klonopin and hydrocodone. Also on Sunday, her husband, W.J. Schaffer, was suspended from his job with the Chesapeake Police Department.

Holly Schaffer was booked into custody and subsequently released on $10,500 bond.

Carolina Teacher Accused of Fondling Students

(Orangeburg, South Carolina) A 26-year-old science teacher at Nelson C. Nix Educational Center, Candice Carr, has been accused of fondling two 15-year-old male students between October and December 2010.

Carr has been charged with two counts of lewd act on a minor under 16 years old.

According to the incident report filed by the school district, a witness told investigators Carr talked about her "special life" with the class. Some of that alleged talk involved obscene language describing her sexual activities with a man and at other times, she allegedly levied insults at the male students in the class.

One of the two 15-year-olds told authorities his teacher one day told him "how much she wanted to do it with him before he would leave the classroom," according to the report.

The student claimed the teacher rubbed her buttocks on him and "stuck her hand down his pants" to touch him, the report continues.

Court documents indicate another student made similar allegations.

Carr wass booked into custody with bond set at $10,000.

A remarkably silly U.S. diplomat



Diplomats just don't say such things normally. And to call any Japanese lazy is really stretching it

"A senior U.S. diplomat supervising Japan affairs has been replaced for allegedly making disparaging comments about the inhabitants of a southern Japanese island where U.S. troops are based, the U.S. Embassy and an assistant secretary of state said Thursday.

Kevin Maher caused an uproar by reportedly telling a group of American University students in December that Okinawans were lazy and used their hosting of U.S. bases to extort benefits from Tokyo.

The comments have been widely reported in the Japanese media, and Japan's foreign minister called them hurtful and deeply regrettable.

Maher has been replaced by Rust Deming, the deputy chief of mission in Tokyo, as director of the State Department's Office of Japan Affairs, the U.S. Embassy said in a statement. Maher will continue to work for the State Department.

Okinawa hosts tens of thousands of U.S. Marines and other troops, more than any other part of Japan. Okinawans have often complained that they bear too much of the burden for Japan's security alliance with Washington.

8.9-Magnitude Quake - Japan



An earthquake measuring 8.9 on the Richter scale struck 230 miles northeast of Tokyo about two hours ago. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake struck off-shore 81 miles (130 kms) east of Sendai in Honshu at a depth of 15.2 miles (24 kms).

Early helicopter video footage of tsunami waves, reportedly as high as 7.3 meters, is being broadcast showing walls of water pushing everything out of the way.

The entire Pacific Rim is under a tsunami watch.

Hawaii is expected to be hit about 3AM local (8AM EST).

Chinese Nuclear Power Building Spree

(Beijing, China) During a recent interview, Liu Wei, VP of China Nuclear Power Engineering Corp., said his nation plans to build six new nuclear power plants each year for the next decade.

Plans are that China will have about 70 nuclear reactor facilities online by 2020, Liu Wei said.

Currently, China has 13 reactors with a total output capacity of 11 gigawatts.

Twenty-five new nuclear power plants are already under construction, nearly half of all new facilities being built worldwide.

Meanwhile, the United States is effectively handcuffed from doing anything. Heh.

(Bossier Parish, Louisiana) The 49-year-old president of the Elk Grove Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization, Cynthia Lee Herring, was arrested this morning for allegedly misappropriating approximately $6,300 of PTO money.

The investigation into the missing money uncovered that Herring had not made deposits of P.T.O. funds for several school events back in 2010.

Upon questioning, Herring reportedly admitted to the theft and claims she used the money for personal, financial problems.

Herring was booked into custody and subsequently released on $1,000 bond.

Help Wanted Preparing for Electric Vehicles

(Kansas City, Missouri) Ideas are sought from the public on how to make the Kansas City area ready for electric vehicles.

The Mid-America Regional Council and the Metropolitan Energy Center have been working with public and private organizations to develop a regional plan to get consumers, businesses and local governments ready for plug-in vehicles.

Through March 31, area residents have a chance to weigh in on the recommendations.

“Plug-in vehicles will support local efforts to improve air quality and energy independence, so it’s important that the public and private sectors in Kansas City work together to prepare for their arrival in our market,” said Ron Achelpohl, assistant director of transportation at MARC.

The Greater Kansas City Plug-In Readiness Initiative is looking at charging infrastructure, government policy, vehicle availability, fleet demand, retail demand and incentives that need to be considered for the use of electric vehicles by individuals and by businesses and groups that can use them in their fleets.

Sales in the U.S. are said to be "improving."

In any event, increasing quantities of Jack Daniel's and Southern Comfort are being purchased and, presumably, consumed at place(s) outside of the U.S. My guess would be the Far East. Probably China. The Chinese are reportedly flush with cash and can afford premium American sour mash.

Iranian Warship vs. American Destroyer

The Iranian government recently sent a warship into the Mediterranean Sea via the Suez Canal. Here's a comparison of the Iranian vessel to an American destroyer.




As can be seen, the U.S. warship makes the Iranian warship look like a riverboat. However, despite its relatively small size, it is a threat. Smaller vessels may be more maneuverable, faster and, depending on its weapons systems, quite deadly.

On the other hand, silhouettes of the Iranian warship's crew may indicate weaknesses.



Unless I'm mistaken, the Iranians have recruited cartoon characters, a duck and a roadrunner, to crew their warship.

Virginia Teacher Gets No Jail in Sex Case - Updated

(Christiansburg, Virginia) Yesterday, former Christiansburg High School teacher Diana Eckes Canter, 35, "quietly" pleaded no contest to eight reduced charges of misdemeanor contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Canter had initially been charged with eight felonies. The changes were made "after consultation with the victim."

Circuit Court Judge Bobby Turk sentenced her to 12 months in jail on each charge, with four of the sentences running consecutively and four concurrently, for a total of 48 months.

Turk suspended the entire sentence and ordered Canter to spend 24 months on probation with 12 months supervised, perform 200 hours of community service and have no contact with the victim or his family. He also fined her $2,000.

The victim was a 17-year-old senior when the sexual relations occurred. He is now a 19-year-old graduate who claims he was suicidal after the affair ended.

Defense attorney Tony Anderson said Canter is remorseful.

Virginia Teacher Accused of Sex with Male Student

(Christiansburg, Virginia) A 34-year-old English teacher formerly at Christiansburg High School, Diana Eckes Canter, was arrested yesterday for allegedly engaging in sex with a male student.

Canter faces eight felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a minor as someone in a custodial or supervisory position having sexual intercourse with a minor.

The offenses were reported to have occurred between December 2008 and August 2009 and the boy is no longer a student in the Montgomery County school system, Wilburn said. So far, she said, the investigation indicates none of the offenses took place on campus.

Canter was booked into custody at the Montgomery County Jail with bond set at $5,000.

Kentucky Woman Gets Prison in Sex Case

(Paducah, Kentucky) In March 2010, Katherine Mae Hoffman, 20, was indicted by a federal grand jury on charges of sexual abuse of a minor stemming from knowingly engaging in sex with a 14-year-old boy.

On Tuesday of this week, Hoffman, now 21, was sentenced to serve two years in federal prison and five years of probation upon release.

Convicted Sex Offender Preacher

(Gaston County, North Carolina) A 60-year-old local preacher and evangelist, Thomas Lee Cavender, has petitioned the Gaston County Superior Court requesting that his name be removed from the National Sex Offender Registry.

Judge Jesse Caldwell denied the request.

Cavender said that he is a preacher and the label is hindering his ability as a pastor.

“It hurts my ministry when you’re in the pulpit and someone goes to the computer and there you are,” he said.

The judge questioned Cavender as to why he wouldn’t be upfront about his past.

“Are you trying to keep all this quiet to your congregation and the people you preach to?” Caldwell asked. “You’re going into the pulpit under false pretenses, are you not?”

Fooling the flock, eh Mr. Cavender?

Cavender was convicted of sexual battery of a young girl in 2000. He plea bargained for a short prison term and probation.

(Rock Hill, South Carolina) Rock Hill Police spotted a 24-year-old local man, David Henson, driving erratically. After being stopped, Henson was arrested.

Rock Hill police said he was intoxicated and had various prescription pills, digital scales and open cans of beer inside his car.

Henson was booked into custody. At the jail an officer smelled marijuana and searched Henson's cell where he found a marijuana cigarette rolled with paper ripped from a page in the Holy Bible.

Presumably, Henson will faces additional charges.

Ex-Porn Starlet Loses Teaching Job, Again - Updated

(St. Louis, Missouri) More than four years ago, a former porn starlet named Rikki Andersin lost her job working as a science teacher under the name Tericka Dye at a Kentucky high school.

Subsequently, Tericka Dye changed her name to Tera Myers and began working at a St. Louis-area high school.

Last Friday, a student at Parkway North High School in St. Louis County discovered the X-rated past of Tera Myers/Tericka Dye/Rikki Andersin on the Internet and, shortly afterward, everyone in the school knew.

As a result, Tera Myers quit her teaching position at Parkway North.




Questions have been raised concerning the adequacy of background checks since the administrators at Parkway North knew nothing of the ex-porn star's past.

(Paducah, Kentucky) Currently-unemployed science teacher, Tericka Dye, 34, was suspended from teaching last May after it became common knowledge that she was a former porn starlet who appeared in a number of films under the name Rikki Andersin. Despite Dye's apologies and abundant excuses that she was young and poor and stupid, she was told that her teaching contract would not be renewed.

Nonetheless, Dye wants her job back and maintains that she has changed from being the poor decision-maker of the past, has learned from her mistakes, and now is a person who loves teaching.

Attorney Mark Blankenship, representing Dye, decided that McCracken County Schools Superintendent Tim Heller's decision to terminate Dye should be challenged and took her case to the state Department of Education. The state officials dismissed the case, stating that the school board had properly executed its authority.

In the latest development, Dye took her case to the court of public opinion by appearing on the Dr. Phil Show this week. Ostensibly, she sought to enlist afternoon television viewers in a campaign to pressure the school board into rehiring her.

It's not clear what will happen next, however, it is clear that Tericka Dye persists on blaming others for her problems. She blames the school board for being narrow-minded when, in reality, school officials are primarily concerned about the disruptive effect of employing a former porn queen whose lascivious "performances" are available via the Internet.

Now, I'm a big fan of redemption but I also believe that actions have consequences. Tericka Dye's actions have significant consequences regarding her ability to be a symbol of propriety in a community. Her stint in pornographic films cannot be erased from the minds of students nor parents. As such, it will always taint her efforts to provide instruction and guidance to children.

In a recent similar case in Texas, Austin High School art teacher Tamara Hoover was terminated by the school system because her nude pictures appeared on the Internet. No wanton sex, just nudity. The latest reports indicate that Hoover has accepted her experience as a lesson and decided to move on with her life. Tericka Dye should do the same.

Brit Teacher Gets No Jail in Sex Case

(Manchester, England) In late 2009, teaching assistant Leah Davies engaged in an intimate relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

Leah Davies, 30, had sex with the schoolboy in his family home after being invited over by his mother, with whom she was friends.

After the mother went to bed, Davies and the boy watched a DVD and drank vodka before having sex in the living room.

The boy ultimately told a family member and authorities were alerted. She was prosecuted in Manchester Crown Court and convicted on four counts of sexual activity with a child.

As a result, Judge Martin Rutland sentenced Davies to 12 months' imprisonment suspended.

The judge said: "It was a comparatively short-lived encounter that required no coercion whatsoever and indeed proved to be a source of mutual satisfaction.

"I'm convinced he was not seduced or corrupted by the experience."

Female Police Chief in Border Town Flees - Updated

(Guadalupe, Mexico) It's reported that Marisol Valles Garcia, college student and police chief of Praxedis G. Guerrero, has fled Mexico, seeking asylum in the U.S.

Valles "received death threats from criminal groups that wanted to force her to work for them," her relative told the newspaper.

Valles, who fled with her young son, became the top law enforcement official in the Mexican border town after drug cartel members murdered the town's mayor and his son, scaring off all other applicants.

Miss Valles Garcia was fired for abandoning her post.

A 20-year-old criminology student, the only candidate for the position, was designated as police chief in the violence-plagued town of Guadalupe Distrito Bravo, Mexican media reported Tuesday.

Marisol Valles Garcia took charge on Monday of security in the town, population 10,000, on the US border. The community is around 80 km east of Ciudad Juarez, itself regarded as the most violent city in Mexico.

The former mayor of Guadalupe Distrito Bravos, Jesus Manuel Lara Rodriguez, was killed on June 19 at his home in Ciudad Juarez, after receiving death threats.

I wonder if Marisol Valles Garcia will survive.

By the way, last week there were eight murders in Guadalupe.

Mississippi Mom Arrested for Murder of Son

(Greenville, Mississippi) Last week, a 24-year-old local mom, Terrie A. Robinson, was arrested for allegedly killing her thread-year-old son, Tristan Robinson, whose body was found burned in the oven.

Robinson has been charged with murder.

Greenville Police found the boy's body at his mother's apartment Wednesday after responding to an emergency call just after midnight.

Preliminary examination results of the boy's body indicate head trauma and that he died from heat injuries. An autopsy will be performed to determine whether the child was alive when put into the oven.

Robinson was booked into custody with bond set at $5 million.

Punishment for Good Deed?

(Düsseldorf, Germany) In 2006, schoolteacher Klaus Schröder aka Schroeder gave his sperm to a lesbian couple, a teacher and a nurse, who desired to have a child.

Although it appears that Schroeder was simply a nice guy doing a good deed, he was selfishly curious as to whether his swimmers could get the job done.

Over several weeks, Mr. Schröder provided sperm samples (concurrent with another donor, he learned later) until the lesbian teacher became pregnant. In March 2007, a baby boy named David was born. Subsequently, there was confirmation that David was and is Schroeder's son.

Later, 52-year-old Schroeder received notification that the lesbian couple wanted to transfer total financial responsibility for David to him.

Since Schroeder is the biological father, under German law he is now required to pay 270 € (about $375) per month for child support. It's estimated that Schroeder's total obligation for David up to adulthood will be slightly more than 100,000 €.

Sperm donor candidates may want to keep this case in mind. A good deed could cost over 100,000 € ($140,000).

Meanwhile, Schroeder's relationship with the lesbian couple is no longer harmonious and he is not allowed to see the boy.

Wyoming Adopts "Constitutional Carry" of Firearms

An important step was taken yesterday in Wyoming toward restoring the constitutionally protected right of Americans to keep and bear arms, as that state became the second in less than a year to enact legislation affirming the right of its citizens to carry a concealed firearm without a special government-issued license.

Following adoption in the state Senate, the vote of the House in the Wyoming legislature approved the bill by a vote of 48–8 several weeks ago, and Gov. Matt Mead signed it into law on March 3.

The right to carry a concealed firearm without a special license issued by the state is often referred to as “constitutional carry.”

Wyoming is now the fourth state in the Union that recognizes constitutional carry, joining Alaska, Arizona, and Vermont.

Similar bills are pending in at least six other states.

Domestic Spat

(Manteca, California) A 36-year-old man, Christopher Carroll, argued with his wife and decided to leave the house.

Mr. Carroll jumped in the family minivan while his wife tried to stop him by crawling onto the hood. She held on to the windshield wipers while Mr. Carroll gunned the minivan and took off.

Mrs. Carroll hung on for her life as her husband raced for 35 miles at speeds up to 100 miles per hour from Manteca to nearby Pleasanton. Ultimately, Carroll slowed down and his wife fell off the vehicle. She was rescued and taken to the hospital where she was treated for hypothermia.

Carroll returned home where he was arrested on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping and domestic assault. He was booked into custody at the San Joaquin County Jail without bail.

Pennsylvania Woman Guilty of Sex with Boy - Updated

(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) Jennifer A. Barbarics, 33, pleaded guilty yesterday to statutory sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and corruption of a minor.

Sentencing has been scheduled for April 29 when Barbarics faces a possible 22 years in prison.

Northampton County Judge Anthony Beltrami asked Barbarics why she committed the offenses. She responded, "Stupidity I guess."

Barbarics remains free on bail.

Pennsylvania Woman Accused of Sex with Boy

(Bethlehem, Pennsylvania) A 32-year-old local woman, Jennifer A. Barbarics, has been accused of engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy allegedly because she hated her husband and her life.

Barbarics faces charges of statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of a child and unlawful contact with a minor.

Police allege she first had sex with the boy Dec. 20 in the back seat of her car in an alley near Spring Garden Elementary School after picking him up at his home and stopping at a CVS to buy condoms.

Barbarics knew the boy, police said, and had been exchanging text messages with him since late November. Some of the texts described sexual situations, according to court papers, and the boy and Barbarics flirted in the messages as well.

Police said Barbarics last had sex with boy in the attic of her home and on at least one other occasion she tried to have sex with the boy, but failed to find a safe place.

Barbarics was booked into custody at the Northampton County Prison with bail set at $25,000.

Interestingly, this is the first I've noticed of these women-with-boys cases that is allegedly motivated by hatred for the husband. It's a new excuse.

Protest Prior to Congressional Hearings

(New York City) A big rally is planned for Sunday in Times Square to protest "un-American" congressional hearings scheduled for next week to examine the disconnect between law-abiding Muslims and those who ignore or partner with jihadists.

The chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Peter King controls the agenda for the hearings.

Reportedly, a large crowd will gather to protest Rep. King and the hearings because radicalized Muslims are being singled out as being primarily responsible for terrorism threats in the U.S.

According to Imam Shamsi Ali, of the Islamic Cultural Center, there's no opposition to the hearings, but rather the "singular focus on Muslim groups."

Ali said it's discrimination to single out radicalized Muslim groups. All radicalized groups in society should be included. It's not clear who the other radicalized groups are.

Brit Woman Gets Prison for Sex with Boy, 12

(Cambridgeshire, England) A 32-year-old lunch lady at a primary school in Cambridgeshire, Diane Pullar, has been convicted on six child sex charges following a 10-day trial in Cambridge Crown Court.

Consequently, she was sentenced to six years in prison.

The offenses occurred in 2009 and involved a 12-year-old boy Pullar met through a friend of her daughter.

Judge Anthony Bate locked Pullar up for six years and banned her from ever working with children after ruling she poses a 'high risk of serious harm to boys.'[…]

Judge Bate ordered Pullar to be supervised by the probation service for an extended period of four years after her release.

She will be placed on a sexual offences prevention order prohibiting unsupervised contact with any unrelated child under the age of 16.

Pullar must also sign the sex offenders' register for the rest of her life.

Pullar reportedly sobbed during sentencing.

Sweden Gives Incentives to Illegal Aliens

(Stockholm, Sweden) According to this report, the nation of Sweden doesn't have enough foreign nationals sneaking into the country. Incentives are to be offered for more to come.

Illegal immigrants in Sweden should in future have the right to government-funded healthcare and education, and be able to start their own companies, the government has agreed.

The move follows long negotiations between the smaller governing parties (the Centre, Liberal and Christian Democrat parties) who have long argued for more rights for undocumented migrants, and the Moderate Party, which has opposed the idea.

The Moderates have argued that giving such entitlements would legitimize people who have no right to be in Sweden.

The parties say there are still a number of questions to resolve, including the issue of who will pay for illegal immigrants' healthcare or the kind of care and education to which they will be entitled.

A vote on the issue is scheduled for early next year.

Interestingly, while the Swedish government is preparing legislation to authorize free health care to illegals, another report indicates that Swedish citizens will soon be required to pay more for health care. So, Swedes pay more, illegals pay nothing -- helluva deal.

In any event, the Swedish action will likely be heard by displaced North Africans, Middle Easterners, Eastern Europeans and Asians as an invitation to "Come and live in Sweden!"

Michigan Woman Guilty in Sex Case

(Adrian, Michigan) In November 2009, youth facility worker Paneka Brenna Page was accused of engaging in sex with a boy under the age of 16. After an investigation by Michigan State Police, Page was terminated from her staff position at the Boysville youth facility.

Yesterday in Lenawee County Circuit Court, 28-year-old Paneka Page pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of assault with intent to commit second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Sentencing has been scheduled for April 8 when Page faces a possible five years in prison.

My guess would be no jail and a short period of probation. Women customarily receive scant punishment for sex with boys.

CA: Student calls police after math teacher rattles table

An eighth-grade math teacher at Atherton's Selby Lane School rattled a table to get his students' attention Tuesday afternoon, police said. He succeeded on that score. But the demonstration landed him on paid administrative leave.

Officers went to the campus at 2:26 p.m. to check on reports of a teacher causing a disturbance in a classroom and possibly throwing objects, said Sgt. Tim Lynch of the Atherton Police Department.

When officers arrived, however, they found a calm teacher with class in session and determined nothing had been thrown.

Lynch said it appears the teacher's table-rattling act startled a female student who left the class and called police from a cell phone. "My impression by talking to her was that she was disturbed by what the teacher was doing," Lynch said.

Most of the students in the class weren't bothered by the teacher's actions, Lynch said. Though the teacher "dramatically" made his point, "it wasn't a teacher out of control," he added.

Redwood City School District Deputy Superintendent John Baker said the teacher will remain on leave pending an investigation. He said he didn't know what specifically happened and would interview the teacher, the student and her parents in the coming days, as well as other students.

No complaints have been lodged against the teacher in the past, Baker said. The district put the teacher on leave because of the police response and the nature of the complaint, he said.

Missouri Teacher Caught in Prostitution Sting

(Springfield, Missouri) A 33-year-old fourth-grade teacher with Springfield Public Schools, Laura A. Fiedler, was arrested early last month during a prostitution sting at a downtown building. Fiedler is expected to be charged with "promoting prostitution."

The investigation began in December when an anonymous citizen tipped detectives off to a "rub down" offer he received from a woman he only knew as "Connie."

The woman allegedly directed the citizen to her advertisement on a free classified ad site similar to Craigslist. Under a section on the site called Adult, "body rubs" are offered.[…]

The officer arrived in the room and negotiated for a massage and oral sex for $150. He then gave officers listening in on a recording device the signal to enter the room.

Fiedler was booked into custody at the Greene County Jail.

Ukraine Bride Promotion

(Kiev, Ukraine) In response to a controversial "Win a Wife" (from Ukraine) contest sponsored by a radio station in New Zealand, the Ukrainian feminist group FEMEN protested topless.





Note that FEMEN members regularly take their shirts off in protest.

The Rock FM radio station ran the competition called Win a Wife, offering a 12-night trip - along with $2000 spending money - to Ukraine organised by a bride agency, Endless Love Agency, which says on its website it offers "beautiful genuine Ukraine ladies looking for love and marriage with Kiwi men".

A winemaker named Greg was the winner and he is due in the Ukraine mining town of Donetsk later this month before also visiting another town called Zaporizhia.

The prize does not include travel for the Ukraine woman to come to New Zealand.

Activists from the Femen group, which uses stripping as a shock tactic, braved wintry temperatures in central Kiev, holding banners with slogans such as "Ukraine is not a brothel".

Interestingly, this episode illustrates just how small the world is now with the Internet. A relatively unremarkable promotion by a radio station prompts women 10 time zones away to take their shirts off in protest.

Unlike Reuters’ misrepresentation of the issue of risk due to “climate change”, the actual report is about risk due to “climate policy”. In other words, climate change is not causing a risk, government policies trying to respond to the issue are the real risk.

Human Breast Milk Ice Cream Banned - Updated

(Westminster, England) While samples of the breast milk ice cream were sent for testing, Matt O'Connor, owner of The Icecreamists ice cream shop, was ordered to stop selling the frozen delicacy until tests were completed.

The action was in response to two complaints from the public and concerns expressed the Health Protection Agency and Food Standards Agency.

Libya Booted from UNHRC

(New York City) Concurrent with reports of Libyan strongman Gaddafi being responsible for more than 1,000 dead and saying. "My people love me," there's this.

The UN General Assembly, which comprises all 192 members, agreed to bar Libya from the council, which aims to "strengthen, promote and protect human rights", on Tuesday evening in New York.

The measure was accepted "by consensus", a device used if there is no known opposition. Ban Ki-Moon, the UN Secretary General, said: "The world has spoken with one voice".

Meanwhile, discussion is ongoing regarding the U.S. and allies establishing a no-fly zone over Libya. It would require an attack on the "second-biggest Surface-to-Air Missile network in Africa — plus the remnants of the dictator’s dilapidated fighter force."

In any event, Libya has been assessed as incapable of defending against an attack.

France, Russia and China have ruled out military action against Gaddafi.

No Jail for Long Island Mom in Sex Case - Updated

(Mineola, New York) Yesterday, 43-year-old Long Island mom-of-three, Stephanie Finnerty, admitted to engaging in an extended-term sexual relationship with a 16-year-old male school friend of her daughter.

As a consequence, Finnerty was sentenced to three years of probation. According to defense attorney Nancy Bartling,

“This was a low time in her life. She recognizes that she made a mistake. She was very remorseful, crying in court.”

Finnerty was additionally ordered to stay away from her teen victim and to pay $1,200 in fines.

Reportedly, husband and former mobster Michael Finnerty still supports his wife despite not being at yesterday's proceedings.

(Nassau County, New York) A 43-year-old mother-of-three and reported mob family rat's wife, Stephanie Finnerty, has been accused of engaging in sex with her daughter's high school boyfriend.

She faces charges of rape and criminal sexual act.

"The kid was dating the defendant's daughter for about a year, and the woman was having sex with him off and on" between June and November 2009, a source said.

The under-18 boy told his dad, who contacted cops, the source said.

Husband Michael Finnerty, characterized as a Gambino goon who ratted out John (Junior) Gotti, gave up the gangster life in the early '90s and credits his wife for turning his life around.

Stephanie Finnerty was booked into custody with bond set at $10,000.

NY Woman Guilty of Sex with Boy

(Attica, New York) A 40-year-old local woman, Roberta C. Arthur, pleaded guilty yesterday before Genesee County Court Judge Robert C. Noonan to engaging in sex with a 16-year-old boy.

As a result, Arthur faces a possible six months in jail and 10 years of probation when sentenced in May.

I suspect a guy would face harsher punishment.

Ohio Teacher Guilty of Poisoning Daughter - Updated

(Painesville, Ohio) Former Bellaire High School (Belmont County) teacher Erin Hendrix, 28, has been convicted.

On Monday, a Lake County, Ohio, jury found Erin Hendrix guilty of 13 out of 22 charges, concluding Hendrix gave her daughter lethal doses of lead.

Hendrix's bond was revoked by a judge, and she faces life in prison with the possibility of parole after 15 years.

Nearly three years ago, Belmont County officials started investigating accusations that Hendrix tried to poison her then 6-month-old daughter with lead.

Sentencing is scheduled for March 15.

Former Teacher Accused of Poisoning Daughter

(Lake County, Ohio) A 28-year-old physics teacher formerly at Bellaire High School in Belmont County, Erin Hendrix, has been accused of attempted murder for allegedly trying to poison her infant daughter.

Hendrix has been charged with 22 counts including attempted aggravated murder, felony assault, endangering children and several counts of contaminating a substance for human consumption.

Hendrix was a physics teacher at Bellaire High School and her husband was a pastor in Belmont County. In 2008, the family moved to Mentor, in Lake County, Ohio.

There, a children's hospital in Cleveland contacted Mentor police when medical providers noticed high lead nitrate levels in the girl's bloodstream. Police began an investigation and ultimately put the girl -- now 3 years old -- into protective services.

The child is recovering but faces a long road.
