Teacher Lina Sinha Offered Plea Deal

(New York City) In the last update of the Lina Sinha story, she was charged with 81 total counts of rape, sodomy, bribing a witness and tampering with a witness and evidence. All the charges were related to inappropriate sexual behavior with students at the East Side Montessori School in Manhattan.

Last week, 41-year-old Sinha appeared before Judge Carol Berkman in Manhattan Supreme Court to review the prosecution's offer of a year in prison in exchange for a guilty plea. Judge Berkman indicated that she would not accept any plea deal offering less than six years in prison. Consequently, the case is continued to October 18 at which time Sinha will have to decide whether she will accept the new offer.
